Assignment 11: Two Thumbs Down!

In this blog post, we're going to the movies!  I want you to take on the role of a movie critic and give me your honest opinion of a movie that you've seen recently.  Discuss the acting in the film, the plot, what worked, and what didn't.  Please include a graphic from the film.  As always, this post needs to be around 500 words.  Don't forget to give it some sort of rating as well--two thumbs up, two thumbs down, etc.

Assignment 10: Let's Talk Turkey!

Oh, the warm, delicious smell of Thanksgiving turkey!  It sure does bring back memories.  For this blog (500 words), I want you to describe one of your Thanksgiving memories for me.  It can be sad, funny, bittersweet, or anything else you like.

Assignment 9: Time to Vent

In this prompt, I want you to vent about something that really gets on your nerves.  Be open and honest.  In 500 words, tell me why this person/event/issue/etc. bothers you.  What are some possible solutions to this problem?

Assignment 8: Here I Come to Save the Day!

 

For this blog post, I want you to write about your favorite super hero (500 words).  Include a picture of this character.  Why do you like this character?  Do you identify with him or her?  What parts of his or her character do you possess?  Do you wish you could be more like him or her?  Also, don't forget about those super powers!  If you had the super powers of this character, how would you use them?  Get creative with this post!!!

Assignment 7: The "Art" of the Matter

 

For this prompt, I want you to select a work of art (painting, photograph, sculpture, etc.) that really moves you.  Include a picture of the artwork, tell me a little about the artist, explain the meaning behind the work, and then tell me why you are personally affected by this piece.  This entry needs to be about 500 words.

Assignment 6: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

For this blog, I want you to plan a dinner with some very interesting guests.  The guests will be fictional characters whom you select from your favorite novels, television shows, movies, games, whatever.  Tell me who these characters are and why you want to invite them to your dinner party.  Lastly, write a reflection on how all of these characters would interact with each other.  Please be sure to answer all parts of this prompt; I'm looking for somewhere in the range of 700 to 1000 words.

Assignment 5: Politics, Politics, Politics

 

For this assignment, I want you to read the story and watch the video below, then write a 500-word reflection.  How do you feel about the story?  Do you agree with the veterans' actions?  Should these monuments ever be closed to the public?  Feel free to discuss any other aspects of this story that you wish!

Assignment 4: Literary Analysis

Assignment: Please reflect on the above quote from The Thorn Birds.  How do you interpret this legend?  How does it apply to your own life?  Is there anything worth giving up everything for?  I'm looking for at least a 500 word response; take this in any direction you want. This legend can be applied to practically anything in life, so I want to see what you make of it.

Assignment 3: Quote Blog

For this blog entry, I would like for you to select a quote which means a lot to you and explain the reasoning behind this selection.  The quote can be from anything: book, poem, movie, song, whatever.  The important thing here is that you convey to me why this particular quote is so important to you.  The blog should be 500 words long, have at least two graphics, and have at least one link to an associated website.
